Nulu Toasted Rye 5 year Shared Pour SiB

This is a 5 year old rye bottled by Nulu. This rye has been finished in toasted oak barrels before being bottled. This particular bottling was sold as a set with another Nulu Toasted Rye SiB that we will get to after this one. These were selected on Premises by t8ke and the pick team.

ABV: 59.5%

Nose: Green Apple, Black Pepper, Pine, Tannins, faint dark chocolate.

Palate: Green Apple, Pine, tannins, Rye Spice

Finish: Medium length finish, spearmint, Tannins, Pine Needles, Black Pepper

Rating: 6/10

This hits the classic rye profile for me. Bold, Spicy, and minty all around, the toasted cask seems to have brought some tannins to the rye which is not a bad thing overall. This is the definition of a punch in the face of Spice and oak in all the best way. A very good selection.

Nulu Toasted Rye 5 year R/bourbon SiB

This is the sister barrel of the Seeing Double selection, bottled for r/bourbon. This is also a 5 year toasted rye sourced from MGP and bottled by Nulu.

ABV: 60%

Nose: Big Dark Chocolate, Green Apple, Vanilla Cream, Black Pepper, Cherry.

Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel, Cherry, Vanilla Cream, Black Pepper, Dark Chocolate, Black Tea

Finish: Medium length finish, Tannins, Vanilla Cream, Black Pepper, Dark Chocolate, Black Tea

Rating: 7/10

Big and desserty, this is great companion bottle to the Shared Pour bottling. Bold Dark Chocolate, Spice, and Vanilla its like drinking a decadent and spicy dessert. The heavy spice compliments the sweeter elements well and makes for an interesting experience. Overall a great whiskey.

I was not a real big fan of the toasted bourbons I have had, but these toasted ryes are awesome. The toasted barrel flavors pair well with the bold rye spice character. Great work by the pick team.
