Review #725; Rum #170: Sugarfield Experimental Series Batch 6

This rum comes to us from Sugarfield and is in the line of their expirmental series. These rums are made from cane juice, which doesn’t happen too often in American rum. This rum is sugar cane grown and harvested from the Assumption Parish is Louisiana, Hand Crushed at the distillery into 19 Brix of juice, fermented with Lallemand RM yeast and double distilled on a pot still in November and December of 2020. Having had batch #5 recently I am quite excited to dive into batch 6.

ABV: 46%

Nose: Lemon Pledge Wipes, Brine, minerality, grassiness, faint vanilla,

Palate: Medium mouthfeel. Brine, Lemon Zest, Grassiness, Vanilla, Minerality, chocolate.

Finish: Medium length finish, river water, brine, lemon zest, grassiness, heavy minerality,

Rating: 7/10

This just might be one of the best American made rums I’ve had, it’s certainly in the running for the best unaged American rums I’ve had. So much river rock, Minerality, and vegetalness that I have not gotten in any other American offering. Loads of lemon zest, some hints of vanilla and herabcouesness. This stuff is simply great.
