Review #717; Rum #165: Hampden LROK 11yr (2010)

This new bottling comes to us by way of Jamaican distiller Hampden. This is their own bottling, aged entirely in the Trelawny parish for 11 years before being bottled with no additives. The LROK marque is a marque with an ester count that comes in between 300-400 gr/hlpa This is some of the oldest stocks Hampden has on their property that has been proofed down to 47%. Let’s see how it holds up.

ABV: 47%

Nose: Pineapple Bark, Rubber Cement, Brine, Dirty Vanilla, Black Pepper,

Palate: Medium mouthfeel. Pineapple Bark, Rubber Cement, Black Pepper, Dirty Vanilla,

Finish: Shorter finish, Pineapple, Rubber Cement, Black Pepper

Rating: 6/10

This is a very good example of an aged Hampden rum. It has a nice base level flavor, with the pineapple and rubber cement providing the backbone of the flavor experience. Dirty vanilla, Spices, and some tannins round out the experience for a well crafted rum experience. If this was cheaper I’d dig a bottle, but whew lordy, this is one spicy meatball. Given the proof as well, its an easy pass for me.
