Review #710; Bourbon #158: Elijah Craig Barrel Proof 10 yr (Fado’s Dublin Ohio Selection)

This is a barrel picked by a restaurant in Dublin Ohio. This Elijah Craig was aged for 10 years before being bottled at cask strength with no additives and selected for this restaurant. I have not had a chance to try one of these new offering from Heaven Hill until now, so let us see how it holds up.

ABV: 63.8%

Nose: Vanilla Cream, Black Pepper, Cherry Cola,

Palate: Thick mouthfeel, Black Pepper, Cherry Cola, oak spice, tobacco leaf

Finish: Medium length finish, Oak Spice, Black Pepper, Tobacco Leaf, Cherry Cola

Rating: 6/10

A very good bourbon. It doesn’t have the depth some of the ECBP 12 year batches have had, but it’s a very good example of barrel proof bourbon. Very much on the savory side of the flavor spectrum which I appreciate. All in all, these look to be a fun new item on the single barrel market for people to dive into.
