Review #71; Bourbon #36: Elijah Craig Barrel Proof A118

Background: This is an uncut, non chill filtered 12 year age stated cask strength bourbon released in 3 batches during the year, with the code showing month and year released.

ABV: 65.3%

Nose: Burst of caramel sweetness, butterscotch, oak, hint of fruit in this one.

Palate: Heat, Oak, Leather, Tobacco leaf. Under than maybe a hint of vanilla.

This is an oaky leathery bomb to the nth degree to me.

Finish: Medium. Warm , dry oak, leather, and tobacco leaf.

This is an overpowering oak and leather bomb to my palate. Some days I want this kind of a punch but not very often. This runs hot on the palate and finish and the notes are all over the place for me.
