Review #700; Rum #152: Trois Rivieres 14yr (2005) “K&L Select”

This aged Agricole rhum from Martinique comes to us by way of California spirits seller K&L Wines. This cask was aged at Trois Rivieres distillery by squeezing fresh pressed cane juice that is then put into barrels for ageing. This barrel of Limousin oak was filled on June 30th 2005 and dumped on June 28th 2019. Bottles at cask strength with no additives let us see how they did.

This is a great rum. I will be the first to admit I don’t have much experience with agricole rums but this is really layered and complex. There is an underlying vegetalness to it all, great cask influence with those rich dark fruits and spices, tempered by some of the savory pepper, olives, brine, and heavy star Anise.
