Yes I know it’s mislabeled, but I can promise you that this sample is no Lagavulin.
Background: This is a blend of rye whiskies of at least 11 years of aged. This is sourced from an unknown distiller. Lets see how it holds up.
ABV: 55.3%
Nose: Rye spice and sweetness, Butterscotch, grass, Vanilla, green apples, oak.
Palate: Medium mouthfeel. Rye spice, sweet green apples, vanilla, pears. Turns into a dry caramel apple sweetness near the end. Hint of oak
Finish: Medium –longish. Rye spice mixed well with the sweet apple notes, oak, and other sweet fruits like pairs.
With the price and unknown origin I did not want to like this, but this is delicious. Well balanced between the Rye spice and the sweetness it screams Rye and Green Apple bomb to me. I don’t think I would pony up for a bottle but I would think hard about it.
