Review #687; Bourbon #154: Little Book Chapter 2

This whiskey, which was released back in 2018 has languished for a little bit in my sample backlog, in an effort to improve that I am trying to get the things that have been sitting there for awhile which brings us to this. Little Book Chapter 2, the 2nd release in this experimental series from Bean Suntory, is a blend of 8, 13, and 40 year old whiskies the components of which are stated below:

• 8 Year Kentucky Straight Rye at 119.8 Proof

• 13 Year Canadian Rye at 111.9 Proof

• 40 Year Canadian 100% Corn Whiskey at 137.8 Proof

This blend was bottled uncut at its proof, so lets see how this blend worked out.

ABV: 59.4%

Nose: Floral, buttery popcorn, Green Apple, Spearmint, Black Pepper, Pine Needles,

Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel, Spearmint, Black Pepper, Pine, Green Apple, Herbacesouness, tanninc spice, star anise

Finish: Longer finish, big burst of spearmint, black pepper, pine needle, green apple, herbaceous, buttery popcorn, star anise

Rating: 7/10

Spicy, floral, and slightly fruity this blend brings a little bit of everything to the table. Good depth of flavor and well balanced the punchy kick of mint, rye spice, and pine make this really stand out with the soft touches of the corn whiskey bringing balance to the bright ryes. Overall, a great blend by beam.
