Review #632; Gin #13: Beefeater Dry

This gin is the classic gin from Beefeater, consisting of a collection of botanicals. This is the pre-change bottling so it comes in at the higher proof.

ABV: 47%

Nose: Heavy pine, herbaceous, big lemon zest, black pepper, faint cinnamon

Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel. Pine, lemon zest, black pepper, herbaceous, salt, slight nuttiness.

Finish: Medium length finish. Pine, lemon zest, black pepper, cinnamon, salt.

Rating: 6/10

I had not had this staple of gin before, and I came away impressed. Given the price point and the amount of flavor, I can see why it is so popular. This would be great in your standard gin cocktails but I think holds its own neat as well. A good standard offering for the category, especially given the price.
