Review #631; Rum #121: The Real McCoy 12yr Prohibition

This is a limited bottling from Real McCoy referencing the 100-year anniversary of Prohibition. This is a 12-year-old rum from Foursquare distillery in Barbados. It has no color added, is a blend of Pot and Column distillate, and bottled with no additives. It is bottled at a slightly higher proof than standard Real McCoy.

ABV: 50%

Nose: Toasted Coconut, Vanilla Bean, faint orange peel, black pepper.

Palate: Lighter Medium mouthfeel. Vanilla bean, black pepper, toasted coconut, toasted brown sugar, dark chocolate.

Finish: Medium length finish. Vanilla, Black Pepper, coconut, slight orange peel, dark chocolate.

Rating: 5/10

Overall a fine offering, and what I expect from Foursquare. The flavors are good but it is missing some of the oomph and complexity of the ECS. It’s just fine, but doesn’t quite rise above that for me or would it be worth the asking price.
