Review #628; Tequila #4: Tears of Llorona

This is a tequila, aged for 5 years in a blend of scotch, sherry, and brandy barrels before being bottled.

I had this blind, so keep that in mind while reading my notes.

ABV: 43%

Nose: Minerality, Earthiness, Slight Tart Blueberry, leather, apple

Palate: Medium Oily Mouthfeel, big minerality, raisin, earthiness, blueberry, iodine, black pepper, leather

Finish: Medium length finish. Black Pepper, Leather, minerality, earthy, blueberry, apple, raisin.

Rating: 8/10

This one just blew me away with how good it was. Great flavors, well balanced, and complex that keeps you coming back trying to find new things. I think the barrel influence is pretty heavy on this but it does a great job of marrying the cask with the base distillate. Guess: 48-50% abv, extra Anejo, aged 6+ years Tears of Llorona?

Reveal: Tears of Llorona

Well, I was off on proof and age but managed to blindly guess the bottle. Decadent and rich this is an experience worth having with the flavor it brings to the table. One of the best sub 46% spirits I have had the opportunity to try.

4 | Sub-par | Not bad, but better exists.

5 | Good | Good, just fine.

6 | Very Good | A cut above.
