Review #627; Rum #118: Foursquare ECS Empery

This is a rum from the Foursquare distillery located in Barbados. It is a Pot/Column blend of rum aged for 14 years in ex-bourbon casks and and Pot/Column blend aged for 10 years in ex-bourbon then another 4 in ex sherry casks before being bottled.

ABV: 56%

Nose: Raisins, Raspberry, Toffee, Toasted Brown Sugar, Coconut, Nutmeg

Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel, Raspberry, coconut, nutmeg, dark chocolate

Finish: Medium length finish, oak, toffee, raisin, dark chocolate, nutmeg, black pepper

Rating: 5/10

This is fine, and I can see why people would enjoy this but this isn’t screaming amazing to me. It’s a touched over oaked, and I feel like the sherry aspect isn’t integrated as well as it could be. It’s still a well made rum, but doesn’t match up perfectly with my tastes.
