Review #625; Rum #117: Nashville Bourbon Company Venezuela 6yr “Nashville Barrel Heads Selection”

This comes to us from Nashville Barrel Company and Is a single cask sourced from an undisclosed distillery in Venezuela. This was aged for 4.5 years in the Caribbean then finished for 2 years in Ex-Bourbon casks in Nashville before being bottled with no additives.

ABV: 66.7%

Nose: Vanilla Frosting, Dark Chocolate, Black Pepper, Oak Spice, faint fruits

Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel, Dark Chocolate, vanilla bean, Black Pepper, Nutmeg.

Finish: Medium Length finish. Vanilla, Black Pepper, Nutmeg, Oak Spice, Dark Chocolate.

Rating: 6/10

Overall, a very good offering. The flavor profile is nice if a bit on the simpler side. Compared to a lot of the rums coming out of Venezuela this is a breath of fresh air with the high proof and no additives. If you are a bourbon fan I think this would be right up your alley but for those with a more adventure minded outlook on rum (such as myself) this is a pretty easy option to skip over.
