Review #613; Rum #111: Habitation Velier Worthy Park Forsyths 151

This is an unaged rum from Jamaica rum distillery Worthy Park. It was distilled on their double retort pot still after being fermented for 3 months before being bottled with no additives. Bottled in “In the old classic style of Jamaica Overproof rums”, this rum states on the back label “Don’t drink neat, only use in cocktails.:

ABV: 75.5%

Nose: Fruity, pretty pungent. Banana, green grapes, rainwater, slight brine, green vegetalness,

Palate: Thick oily mouthfeel. Fruits, banana, green grapes, mango, rainwater, brine, green vegetalness

Finish: Shorter finish. Brine, rainwater crispness, banana, mango, nutmeg, green vegetalness

Rating: 6/10

The most shocking thing about this rum is how well the heat is managed given the proof. It does not drink searingly and has a good amount of flavor to it. I added a few drops of water (and have tried it in cocktails) to tease a bit more out of it and it opens up a bit with water. Where it really shines is in cocktails. Overall, a very good rum, though if money is a consideration I am taking one of the 3 classic Jamaican overproofs over this.

1 | Disgusting | So bad I poured it out.

2 | Poor | I wouldn’t consume by choice.

3 | Bad | Multiple flaws.

4 | Sub-par | Not bad, but better exists.

5 | Good | Good, just fine.

6 | Very Good | A cut above.

7 | Great | Well above average

8 | Excellent | Really quite exceptional.

9 | Incredible | An all time favorite

10 | Perfect | Perfect
