Review #603; Bourbon #141: 1792 SiB Virginia Select

This is a single barrel of 1792 selected by the state of Virgina. I do not know the age but we will see how they chose.

I reviewed this blind, so keep that in mind while reading my notes

ABV: 49.3%

Nose: Cherry Coke, Caramel, Black Pepper

Palate: Medium mouthfeel. Cherry cola, caramel, tannins, a bit of heat

Finish: Shorter finish. Cherry cola, caramel, slight black pepper, chocolate

Rating: 5/10

This is fine, it’s a decent bourbon but doesn’t really rise above being just fine. The flavors are good if a little tannic and the finish is a bit short. Overall it’s just a perfectly average bourbon.

Guess: This is a bourbon, aged 7-9 years, bottled at 58-61% abv.

Reveal:1792 Singe Barrel (Selected for Virginia)

Other than whiffing hard on proof (49.3% vs 58%), I feel pretty good about my guess. A solid if unspectacular bourbon.

1 | Disgusting | So bad I poured it out.

6 | Very Good | A cut above.

7 | Great | Well above average

8 | Excellent | Really quite exceptional.

9 | Incredible | An all time favorite

10 | Perfect | Perfect
