Review #585; Rum #98: Nession L’Esprit Rhum

Nession L’Espirit Rhum

This rhum comes to us from Martinique, and is distilled from fermented fresh sugar cane juice. It is unaged and rested prior to bottling.

I took these notes blind and was then revealed the bottle, so keep that in mind while reading them.

ABV: 70%

Nose: Strong Lemongrass, orange peel, fresh cut lawn, brine,

Palate: Thick oily mouthfeel. Heat, Lemongrass, fresh cut grass, brine, orange peel, allspice, cumin

Finish: Medium length. Warm and Dry. Lemongrass, orange peel, brine, allspice, black pepper, fresh cut grass, long lingering heat.

Rating: 7/10

Really quite something here. Powerful and pungent. It hits you in the face with lemongrass, grass, spices, and some fruits that all mesh together really well. And it’s a beast as far as proof goes, there is no mistaking this a one high proof agricole, one that would work great in a Ti Punch, or as a nice neat drink if you dare.

Guess: Nession L’Espirit Rhum
