Review #580; Rum #95: Transcontinental Rum Line Jamaica WP 5yr (2015)

This rum comes to us from the Transcontinental Rum Line. It was aged for 3 years in ex-bourbon in Jamaica before being sent to Europe to age for an additional 2 years. Bottled with no additives and at “Navy Strength” (waits for the navy strength police to come get me), let’s see how it turned out.

ABV: 57.4%

Nose: Floralness, Wildflower, Over-ripe fruits, mangoes, banana, vanilla, black pepper.

Palate: Medium mouthfeel. Vanilla, tart over-ripe fruits, banana, lemon zest, floralness, black pepper.

Finish: Medium length finish. Warm, moist. Warm vanilla, banana, heavy floralness, black pepper, lemon zest.

Rating: 6/10

Overall, this is a very good. A good example of Worthy Park’s style of rum with lots of fruits, wildflower, and spices with some nice levels of that fruity Jamaican funk popping in and out. Not overly complex but the good proof, nice level of spice, and flavor make this a good offering and worth buying if you have a hankering for some Navy Strength Worthy Park.
