Review #575; Rum #90: Transcontinental Rum Line Australia 6yr (2013)

This rum brands comes to us from La Masion and Velier who import it to the US, while the brand is the brainchild of La Masion du Whisky. This was aged for 4 years in Australia before being shipped to Europe for an additional 2 years in ex-cognac barrel’s before being bottled with no additives.

ABV: 48%

Nose: Fruity and Savory. Raspberry, mango, allspice, nutmeg, licorice.

Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel. Mango, licorice, nutmeg, allspice, figs.

Finish: Short finish. Orange peel, allspice, black pepper, raspberry, black pepper.

Rating: 5/10

This is my first ever rum from Beenleigh Distillery, and overall I came away impressed. Tons of fruit and savory spices that are well balanced and play off each other. The fruits are not overly sweet either leaning more into the tart side for me. Good mouthfeel, good flavor, the only real downside to this is the rather short finish, which a few bumps in proof, could help. Overall, this one is well priced that I will have to look into getting a full bottle for myself.
