Review #57: Scotch #10: Signatory Laphroaig 1998 16 yr

Background: A single cask Laphroaig distilled in September 1998 and then matured in refill sherry butt 700388 before being bottled in October 2014.

ABV: 46%

Nose: Sherry, berries, honey, peat, melons, hint of smoke, maybe a bit of medicinal. Lovely and complex nose.

Palate: Thick and oily mouthfeel. Medicinal Peat but not overpowering, brine, , smoke, berry and honey sweet and tartness. Complex and well balanced.

Finish: Medium-longish length. Medicinal peat, smoke, tartness of berries with some honey sweetness.

This is very tasty, well balanced and good mix of all you would want from a sherry finished peaty scotch. Its easy to drink and keeps you coming back.
