Review #557; Brandy #20: Grosperrin Bas Armagnac Lot 1996 (Aficionados)

This bottling comes to us via Grosperrin and was selected by the Aficionados group. Coming in at 24 years old, this was aged from a small cellar and has no additives.

ABV: 53.1 %

Nose: Rich and Decadent, Dark Chocolate, Vanilla Frosting, figs, orange peel

Palate: Thick oily mouthfeel. Rich vanilla frosting, dark chocolate, figs, orange peel, allspice, nutmeg.

Finish: Medium length finish. Warm, decadent figs, orange peel, dark chocolate, nutmeg, toffee.

Rating: 8/10

This is outstanding. Rich, full of flavor, tons of depth and complexity. The rich dark chocolate and nutmeg in this are awesome, and it’s tempered really well by the fruit notes. For the price of this cask strength, no-additives Armagnac, it is quite a deal. I will be getting a few more bottles of this before it is gone for myself.
