This is a molasses based rum from the Reunion distillery. This rum has been produced in the Grand Arome method, whhre it was fermented for 6 days to encourage the development of esters. Clocking in at 578.7 grams per hectoliter, this rates up there with the likes of Rumfire in terms of funky level. Let’s see how it turned out.
ABV: 57%
Nose: Fragrant, pear skin, strawberry, vanilla cream, fain olive oil, brine
Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel. Olive oil, faint garlic, strawberry, vanilla cream, basil, brine,
Finish: Medium length finish. Warm, olive oil, basil, vanilla cream, strawberry
Rating: 6/10
This is a tasty rum. Good notes all around, many savory spices, some fruitiness and light funk to round it out. It is not elevated to great rum, but this is one I would keep around for occasional neat sipping, but I bet it would function awesome in cocktails.
