This LE release comes to us from Arran. This was aged for 21 years in in Sherry butts and puncheons before being finished for an undisclosed amount of time in ruby Port Casks. This was bottled at cask strength.
ABV: 50.4%
Nose: Dark fruits, figs, plums, Raspberry, Breadiness, nutmeg, black pepper, allspice.
Palate: Thick oily mouthfeel, heavy dark fruits, figs, raspberry, some plums, allspice, black pepper, strawberry
Finish: Medium length, heavy allspice and nutmeg, raspberry, strawberry, breadiness, and black pepper rounding it out.
Rating: 8/10
This is an outstanding bottling from Arran. Some may find the casks to be doing too much work but I think they integrate well with the base Arran spirit. Malt breadiness is present and the cask influence is balanced well. Perfect for a cold winter night, this is quite an offering from Arran.
