This rum comes to us via the Golden Devil line and picked for K&L. Through many hints dropped in the product description, we know this comes to us (assumedly) from an Unnamed Cuban Distillery. This was presumably distilled on a Column still, aged for 21 years in an ex-whiskey cask in a combination of tropical / continental ageing, then bottled at cask strength. Let us see how it holds up.
ABV: 58.5%
Nose: Floralness, apricot, vanilla cream, cough syrup (licorice)
Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel. Floralness, raspberries, nutmeg, cough syrup.
Finish: Medium length finish, Warm. Raspberries, industrial funk, floralness, cough syrup
Rating: 5/10
I wanted to like this more than I did. Its fine, it has some good things going on in it, mainly the light fruity funk and some of the industrial funk, but the cough syrupy notes just bring it way down for me. It reminds me of artificial grape robitussin and just drags it way down. However, it is unique and weird enough that I am quite happy to try, but not enough to want a full bottle.
