This bottling comes to us from Arran. This is Arran’s peated malt with a PPM level of 20. This bottling had no color added and was non-chill filtered.
ABV: 46%
Nose: Bready, Vanilla, Black Pepper, orange peel, brine.
Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel. Faint vegetal peat, light vanilla, slight breadiness, oak spice, brine.
Finish: Short. Ashy, vegetal peat, faint vanilla, oak spice, brine.
Rating: 4/10
This falls a bit compared to other Arran products for me. The peated elements are all right, but I do not feel it meshes well with the base Arran spirit. The bready, slightly fruity Arran seems to be at odds with the faintly vegetal peat. The mouthfeel is impressive for 46%, but overall I feel that this is lacking something to tie it all together.
