This product comes to us form Heaven hill. It is wheated bourbon, released in similar fashion to Elijah Craig Barrel proof with three batches every year. With an age ranging from 6-8 years and bottled at cask strength. Let’s see how it holds up.
I had this blind, and then was revealed the bottle, so keep that in mind while reading this.
ABV: 61.2%
Nose: Caramel, Maple, peppery, banana.
Palate: Medium mouthfeel. Maple, Caramel, slight rye spice. Oak spice,
Finish: Medium length finish. Warm, brown sugar, caramel, black pepper.
Rating: 6/10
Guess: A bit simple, but delicious. Loads of caramel, brown sugar, with some pepper and oak thrown in, this lends itself to the sweeter side of the bourbon spectrum. 6-8 years old, 52-55% abv. Makers Mark Private Select?
Reveal: Larcey Barrel Proof B520
Overall, I do not feel too bad about my guess. Wheated and high proof is not bad. This lends itself to a bit sweet for me, which ultimately does not allow it to rise too high in my eyes. However if you like very maple and caramel forward bourbon that does run sweet this is the bottle for you.
