This is an Old Forester barrel pick from sunshine liquors based out of Palm Harbor Florida. I had this blind and then was revealed the bottle, so keep that in mind when you read this review.
ABV: 45%
Nose: Dark Chocolate, oak spice, Cherry, vanilla.
Palate: Medium mouthfeel, vanilla, cherry cola, oak spice.
Finish: short finish. Oak spice, vanilla, light black pepper, cherry, apricot.
Rating: 5/10
Guess: This is a classic bourbon. IT does not really rise above it but it hits those notes you want in a bourbon. I would guess this to be a Buffalo Trace SiB store pick.
Reveal: Old Forester SiB – Sunshine Liquors. I was quite surprised when I saw this, but as someone who normally is not a big Old Forester fan this was just fine. The short finish held it back a bit but I really liked the fruit that it had going on in it. The youth was a bit apparent as well, but maybe the new barrel proof SiB fixed those issues.
