Review #503; Scotch #173: Arran 12yr (2006) The Man With the Golden Glass 2

This comes from the master of distilling series from Arran, this bottling was aged for 12 years. This was finished using Palo Cortado Sherry casks. This was bottled at cask strength, with no color added and was non-chill filtered.

ABV: 51.8%

Nose: Figs, nuttiness, allspice, slight cheesy funk, tobacco leaf, nutmeg.

Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel, figs, raisins, allspice, mustiness, nuttiness, black tea, nutmeg, orange peel.

Finish: Medium length finish. Nuttiness, allspice, black pepper, light cheese funk, oiliness, nutmeg, orange peel.

Rating: 7/10

This is quite delicious. Not overly sherried, this punches tons of flavor in a way that is very impressive give its age. Its complex and well balanced as well. This is another winner from Arran to me as the fruits and spices mingle very well together to create a memorable dram.
