This comes from Heaven Hill, and is a 12 year old version of their Evan Williams line (mashbill of 75% Corn, 13% rye, and 12% malted barley). This is mainly an export but can be found at the gift shop at $100+.
ABV: 50.5%
Nose: Cherry, vanilla, oak spice, black pepper, nutmeg,
Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel. Burst of nuttiness, vanilla cream, oak spice, black pepper,
Finish: Medium length finish. Nuttiness, black pepper, oak spice.
Rating: 6/10
I like this. It has a nice mouthfeel, good oak structure, and the classic vanilla and cherry you want in a bourbon. There is an unmistakable nuttiness on the palate and finish as well that I tend to like. It does not rise to be great, but it is a tasty and good bourbon. At 30 dollars in Japan, I would keep this on hand pretty much all the time. For the 100+ here at the gift shop in the USA, what a scam.
