This is a 16 year old Glen Scotia from Cadenheads, from their wood range series. This was distilled in 2000, fully matured in a sherry cask, then bottled in 2016 at cask strength, with no color added, and was non-chill filtered.
ABV: 57.8%
Nose: Faint dark chocolate, raisins, oak spice, over-ripe blackberry, must, faint Sulphur but not overpowering.
Palate: Medium mouthfeel, some raisin, must, Sulphur, hint of gape jam, oak spice, black tea
Finish: Medium length finish, warm, Sulphur, raisin, oak spice, must, blackberry, black tea
Rating: 6/10
This is a divisive one. The sherry in this is strong, as are the fruits and the spices. However, the Sulphur rears up throughout the entire process and for those who hate it avoid this bottle. For me, I think this is an ok bottle, the flavors are good and I do not hate the Sulphur component. It’s juicy, fruity, spicy, and I think a nice showing from Glen Scotia, though not my favorite.
