Review #481; Scotch #163: Kilkerran 8yr CS Recharred Oloroso

This comes to us from distiller Glengyle. This was aged for 8 years in recharred Oloroso casks, then bottled at cask strength with no color added and was non-chill filtered with a release size of 15,000 bottles. Let’s see how this release holds up.

ABV: 57.1%

Nose: Heavy Baking spices, allspices, black pepper, nutmeg, heavy figs, raisins, oak spice, plum.

Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel, figs, grape, nutmeg, black pepper, oak spice, raisins, dark chocolate, figs, bbq smoke.

Finish: Medium length, warm. Oak spice, dark chocolate, black pepper, light fig, slight must

Rating: 8/10

Bursting with flavor, the young age on this whisky doesn’t do it justice. Loads of dark fruits, chocolate, and spices all come together to provide a wonderful and delicious experience. This finish lingers and turns to a warm, dry, spicy sensation that leaves you wanting more.
