Review #479; Scotch #162: Longrow Red 13yr Cabernet Sauvignon Finish

This is Springbank and bottled under their Longrow series. This bottling was aged for 10 years in ex-bourbon barrels, and then finished for 3 years in Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon barrels. It was then bottled at cask strength with no color added, and was non-chill filtered.

ABV: 51.6%

Nose: Light Meaty Peat, red grapes, dark chocolate, funk, faint must, apricot, allspice, vanilla cream.

Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel, light ash, meatiness, blueberry, allspice, red grapes, light apple peel, apricot, nutmeg, light industrial funk.

Finish: Meaty peat, floralness, red grapes, Apricot, blueberry, allspice, and light funk.

Rating: 7/10

This is a delicious, flavorful, balanced, and delicate dram. Tons of fruits, chocolate, spices, and funk that are all very well balanced. This is one you will have to sit with for a good period of time to tease some flavors out of, but it is a delight to do so. The Longrow series continues to impress me and I look forward to their next release to try.
