Review #472; Rum #50: Maggie’s Farm Hidden Harbor Rum

This is a rum that comes from distiller and blender Maggie’s farm based out of Pittsburgh. It is a collaboration between them and tiki bar Hidden Harbor. This rum is a blend of Maggie’s Farm White Rum, Maggies Farm Queen’s Share Rum, and rums sourced from Jamaica, Guyana, Martinique, Barbados, and Trinidad. This was originally created for Hidden Harbors 3rd anniversary. Let’s see how they did.

ABV: 50%

Nose: Light fruity funk, light motor oil, guava, banana, nutmeg.

Palate: Medium mouthfeel. Light Jamaican funk, guava, vanilla cream, nutmeg,

Finish: Shorter finish, pop of faint funk, vanilla, guava, faint dirty oil funk, apple peel

Rating: 5/10

For someone who wants to dip their toe into funk, this isn’t a bad way to do it. The funk level is like being tickled by a feather, but the components blend together to make a nice entry-level rum that is good for its intended use by Hidden Harbor, to make cocktails.
