This is a revamp of an OB bottling from Arran. This is aged entirely in Sherry hogsheads, with no color added, non-chill filtered, and bottled at Cask Strength. It has NAS, so let’s dive in and see how it is.
ABV: 55.8% ABV
Nose: Figs, plums, malty, raisins, slight hay, black pepper,
Palate: Medium mouthfeel. Raisins, honey, Grapes, pepper, fresh baked bread, lemon zest.
Finish: Medium length. Warm. Tart Blueberries, lemon zest, honey, a bit of plum and raisins. Slight black pepper.
Rating: 7/10
This is delicious. Lots of fruits, baking spices, and that base Arran malt that presents itself to me as bready and malty. For the price this is good, but I think this is quite a good whisky. Its not a sherry bomb, but the sherry influence helps accent the base spirit very well. This is one I will need a replacement of once its empty.
