Review #461; Scotch #155: Glenmorangie 15yr Cadboll Estate

This is a limited release from Glenmorangie. For this release, the barley was grown in the fields around the distiller, and then aged for 15 years in First Fill Bourbon Barrels. I tried this blind so keep that in mind while reading my notes.

ABV: 43%

Nose: Honey, Hay, Malty, peppery.

Palate: Light mouthfeel, honey, malty, slight brine, light vanilla. A bit of meatiness.

Finish: Short length. Short Bread, vanilla, light honey and malt.

Rating: 5/10

The honey and shortbread make this really stand out. It has a nice maltiness and toastiness to it that make it nice to drink, but it’s a bit simple and the lack of other flavors keep it from reaching great status.

Guess: Single malt, 43-46% abv, Blend of several different whiskies with no age statement, ex-bourbon cask. Compass Box Great King Street Ex-Bourbon Marry Cask?

Reveal: Glenmorangie 15 year Cadboll Estate

I may have missed on the age, I feel good about the other guesses. This is good for the stats and for the price would be a nice intro into non peated scotch.
