Review #451; Rum #46: Savanna 10yr (2008) Rum Nation Selection

This rum comes to us from Rum Nation. It comes from the Savanna distillery located on Reunion island. It was distilled in 2008, aged in a 2nd fill Cognac cask, then finished for 24 months in a 1st fill Oloroso cask and bottled in 2018. This was aged entirely on Reunion.

ABV: 57.4%

Nose: Tropical fruits, slight oil, spice, raisins, nutmeg, allspice, toasted coconut, mango.

Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel. Mango, melon, allspice, figs, allspice, light oil, slight chocolate.

Finish: Medium length, warm, oak spice, mango, allspice, fig, caramel, light oil, some coconut.

Rating: 7/10

This is a delicious rum. Lots of fruit and spices play well together. Intense flavor, moist and warm with some good complexity. This one is a real winner, and one that if you like big, bold, fruity and spice driven rums will be right up your alley.
