Review #426; Mezcal #47: Cinco Sentidos Bruto Reposado by Isidro Rodriguez

Cinco Sentidos Bruto Reposado

This is an offering from Cinco Sentidos, and a slightly unusual one as this will be my 2nd ever aged Mezcal. This one was made from A.Inaquidens agave, cooked in an earth oven for 6 days, Hand Crushed, and fermented in stone tubs with pulque. Filipino style stills and was then aged for 7 months in American Oak.

Mezcalero: Isidro Rodriguez

Batch: REPOO01-49MX

ABV: 48.8%

Nose: Light Vanilla, oak spice, light pear, soft minerality.

Palate: Medium mouthfeel. Light Vanilla, minerals, oak spice, hint of campfire smoke,

Finish: Medium length. Black Peppercorns, vanilla, bready, oak spice, light minerals.

Rating: 5/10

This is a good and well executed product. The ageing in the American Oak provides a nice subtlety to it, but for me it does not rise above being just good. If you like, Tequila styled offerings this probably more up your alley.
