Review #415; Rum #36: Worthy Park Sherry Cask

This is an offering from Distiller Worthy Park. This sherry cask edition was matured in ex-bourbon barrels for 4 years before being finished in a combination of PX and Oloroso sherry casks for another year before being bottled, and was aged 4 years tropically and 1 year in Europe. This was bottled with no color added and was non-chill filtered.

ABV: 57%

Nose: Figs, light tobacco leaf, brown sugar, vanilla bean, black pepper, mango, guava.

Palate: Medium mouthfeel. Brown sugar, mango, figs, mango, allspice,

Finish: Medium length, warm and dry. Oak Spice, Black Pepper, tobacco leaf, raisins.

Rating: 7/10

Despite lacking the typical Jamaican funk this is a good a delicious bottle. It has a nice smattering of fruity rum flavors and the sherry cask finish compliments these well. I’d be interested in trying the rest of the line of this series, and the price of admission of around $75 seems more than fair.
