Review #398; Bourbon #104: Barterhouse 20yr

I tried this blind and then was revealed the bottle after taking these notes, so keep that in mind

This is from Diageos line of overly aged bourbons that they needed to get rid of. This is a 20 year old bourbon that has a mashbill of 86% corn, 8% barley, and 6% rye.

ABV: 45.1%

Nose: Heavy Caramel, Slight Funk, Cherry, Oak Spice,

Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel. Tobacco Leaf, Black Pepper, Oak Spice, light Cherry, slight funk.

Finish: Long length, tobacco leaf, oak spice, peppery, slight leather, dark chocolate.

Rating: 7/10

Guess: This is a wheated bourbon, aged between 10-14 years old. Old Fitzgerald Bottled in Bond? Overall this is tasty, it has a nice complexity and good flavors. It also leans more towards the savory side which I Tend to prefer.

Reveal: Well this was revealed to be the Barterhouse 20 and overall I was pretty impressed given the proof of the bottle. I was off on most of the stats but that tends to happen, however given the prices these ran at I would not purchase at retail.
