This is a 2 year old Jamaican rum from a Distillery located in St. Catherine. It was made using a pot still and molasses before being aged for 2 years in Jamaica. It was then chosen by the r/rum selection committee and bottled at cask strength with no color added, no sugar added, and non-chill filtered.
ABV: 65%
Nose: Strong Allspice, Mango, Pineapple, Banana, slight juicy fruit, fruity funk, oak spice.
Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel. Juciy fruit gum, mango, rotting fruit funk, allspice, peppery, toffee
Finish: Medium length, warm, funky, mango, juicy fruit gum, fruit funk, pineapple, toffee.
Rating: 7/10
This is a really good rum. The youthful age allows it to retain its excellent funk while the barrel influence provides a nice balance to what this would have been unaged. This is well balanced, and I enjoy drinking it both neat and it works very well in cocktails that call of Jamaican overproof. This is one I will have to get some backups of.
