Review #374; Welsh Whisky #1: Penderyn 12yr Port Wood Single Cask

This is a 12 year old single cask from Welsh Distiller Penderyn. This is a single cask offering from them that was bottled at cask strength, with no color added and was non-chill filtered.

This was tasted blind, and then I was revealed the bottle afterwards, so keep that in mind.

ABV: 60.4%

Nose: Spicy, Green Apple, Black Tea, Tart Grapes

Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel. Tangy, tart grapes, black tea, light green apple, light vanilla, orange citrus, allspice.

Finish: Medium length. Oak Spice, Vanilla, light green apple, vanilla.

Rating: 6/10

I like this pretty well, its fruity without being overly sweet, and has a good amount of savory flavors that compliment the fruits very well.

Guess: This is a grape based brandy, 18-24 years old, 48-52% abv.

Reveal: Penderyn 12yr Portwood

This was weird and I was way off, but it was tasty and fun to try.
