This is a bottling for Reddit’s r/scotch community. It was selected blind by a panel of taters and this was one of the winning casks. This is a 1997 vintage Glenfiddich with some teaspooned Balvenie in it. It was aged for 22 years in a refill hogshead and bottled by Morrison and Mackay. This was bottled at cask strength with no color added and was non-filtered. Lets see how it holds up.
ABV: 54.7%
Nose: Spicy, Black Pepper, light honey, bready, malty, floral, green apple
Palate: Medium mouthfeel. Spicy, peppery, slight leather, honey, bready, brine, tart
Finish: Medium length, warm, dry. Spicy, peppery, light allspice, honey, bready, tart.
Rating: 6/10
This is a good cask and was well selected by the committee, as it shows a good expression of a well aged Blended Glenfiddich in a refill barrel. I may not be as high on it as others but still think it is a good offering.
