Review #371; Rum #30: Foursquare Premise

This is a rum from the Barbados distiller Foursquare. It is the 8th bottling in the exception cask series. This rum was aged for 3 years in ex-bourbon casks then aged another 7 years in ex-sherry cask. It is a blend of column and pot distilled rums.

ABV: 46%

Nose: Burnt Brown Sugar, Black Pepper, Vanilla Frosting, Slight Blackberry and fig, oak spice.

Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel. Warm, Black Pepper, Burnt Brown Sugar, Vanilla, Nutmeg, dark Chocolate.

Finish: Short, vanilla, black pepper, burnt brown sugar, oak spice, allspice, dark chocolate.

Rating: 6/10

A good, solid offering from foursquare. It is flavorful and pretty well balanced. Not the most exciting in terms of flavor, but a good decent bottle that I wouldn’t mind having on my shelf for the right price.
