This is an offering from the Scotch Malt Whiskey Society, a Clynelish aged for 25 years in Ex-Bourbon barrels. This was bottled at cask strength with no color added and was non-chill filtered.
ABV: 47.7%
Nose: Tart, Vanilla frosting, floral, herbal, honey, orange citrus hint, light brine.
Palate: Medium mouthfeel, waxy. Honey, vanilla bean, black pepper, floralness, herbal, orange peel, balanced oak spice.
Finish: Medium length, orange peel, honey, wax, vanilla bean, light allspice, floralness, herbal.
Rating: 7/10
This is a delicious, well balanced Clynelish. The waxiness and floralness is there and its well-tempered by the aging. There is a good depth of flavor to it and complexity. Price point aside, this is a tasty offering.
