Review #353; Bourbon #100: New Riff “Diamond in the r/iff #1”

Diamond in the r/iff

So this is from the Craft Distiller New Riff, and was chosen by a group of panelists from r/bourbon including myself who went down and selected a barrel. This review will be unscored due to my help in selecting the barrel.

This barrel was aged 4 years and 1 day, bottled at cask strength with no color added and was non-chill filtered.

ABV: 55.5%

Nose: Strong Cocoa, Vanilla Frosting, Rye Spice, slight tobacco leaf, caramel.

Palate: Medium Mouthfeel, Vanilla Frosting, Rye Spice, Tobacco Leaf, slight dark chocolate.

Finish: Medium length, warm, moist. Vanilla Frosting, light rye spice, some toffee and dark chocolate. Caramel.

Rating: Unscored

I will say that I am still surprised that this is 4 years old. This was not my first choice on the first set of rounds of the pick, but then we reblinded the top 3 sample and I am happy this won. Airtime has really opened this up and New Riff has and continues to impress me with the quality of their product. This was my first ever barrel pick experience and it was a blast.
