Review #352; Scotch #129: Glen Grant 23yr Subtle Spirits #2

This is a 23 year old Glen Grant, Bottled by IB Alexander Murrary for Subtle Spirits. It was bottled at cask Strength and was Non-Chill Filtered with No Color Added.

ABV: 52.4%

Nose: Honey, light raspberry, figs, Pepper, malty, shortbread.

Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel. Tart raspberry and blackberry. Peppery, Honey, Allspice.

Finish: Medium Length, Strong burst of Pepper and Allspice. Followed by some shortbread and dark chocolate, some breadiness mixed in.

Rating: 7/10

Overall, this is a well balanced and tasty dram. I do not know the aging casks but I assume refill-sherry. It has the nice fruity notes from a sherry cask aging but doesn’t venture into being over sherried, while still retaining some great maltiness even at 23 years aged.
