This is a 7 year old Croftengea from the SMWS, aged for 7years in a 2nd Fill Ex-Bourbon barrel. It was then bottled at cask strength with no additives. Let’ see how it holds up
ABV: 59.3%
Nose: Strong Malt, Vanilla, Musty Corn, Black Pepper, light honey.
Palate: Medium Mouthfeel, Cereals, Malt. Some Pepper, Light Vanilla, a bit of heat, musty corn, grass.
Finish: Short, Oak Spice, Black Pepper, Hint of Vanilla. Musty
Rating: 4/10
This is fine, if unremarkable. Very light in terms of body and flavor for being as high proof as it is. It tastes young and is a tad hot, so this may have needed a few more years in the barrel for me.
