Review #340; Scotch #123: Ledaig 11yr 2008 The Whisky Barrel Selection

This is a 11 year old Leadaig Offering, bottled for The Whisky Barrel. It was aged for all 11 years in a First Fill Oloroso Sherry Cask, then bottled with no Color added, non-chill filtered and at cask strength.

ABV: 54.4%

Nose: Light sweet peat, Lemon zest, raspberry, honey, nutmeg,

Palate: Medium mouthfeel, lemon zest, sweet peat, tart raspberry and blueberry, honey. Campfire smoke and black pepper.

Finish: Medium length, tart berries, campfire smoke, sweet peat, pepper, lemon zest.

Rating: 7/10

The oloroso plays well with the peated spirit and adds some great fruitiness and tartness to the peat and slight smoke. This is a well chosen cask and one I wish I had an entire bottle of.
