This is an 11 year old bottling from the SMWS, it was aged in a refill Bourbon hogshead. It doesn’t say the distillery but we assume it to be Old Pultney.
ABV: 59.6%
Nose: Heavy Ocean Spray, Vanilla, sourdough, light honey, cut wheat.
Palate: Medium mouthfeel. Light Brine, sourdough, black pepper,
Finish: Medium length, wheat and cereals, baked bread, light honey, and brine.
Rating: 6/10
At first I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about this one, this is the most spirit driven scotch I have had. But I ended up liking it, the brine and bready nature is so tasty, and just a touch of barrel influence rounds the thing into being enjoyable. Its not complex, and maybe a little boring, but I can see the right occasions where it would hit the spot.
