Review #320; Mezcal #17: Macra Negra Tobala San Luis Del Rio

Batch XJM27-17 Jorge Mendez was the Maestro for this, made from 100% Tobala.

ABV: 50.5%

Nose: Strong Red Fruits, clay, guava, bell peppers, slight mesquite.

Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel. Spicy, Red Fruits/Berries. Guava, allspice, earthy, minerals, crushed sweetarts, roasted green peppers.

Finish: Medium length, Strong Red Fruits and Berries, roasted bell pepper, warm clay/earthiness. Minerality

Rating: 8/10

This is delicious and pungent, with a good balance of sweet and savory flavors that I like in Mezcal. The earthiness and spice really brings this into its own.
