Review #32; Scotch #3: The Whisky Exchange “A Fine Christmas Malt” 2018

Background: This whiskey, a 17 year old single malt was aged in sherry before being bottled by The Whiskey Exchange for Christmas in 2018. The most likely source of this sherried whisky was Glenfarclas. This was bottled at cask strength with no additives and was non-chill filtered.

ABV: 58.7%

Nose: Burst of dark bright sweet fruits, plums and berry’s.
Honeycomb, sweet frosting and sherry with some orange citrus

Palate: Medium mouth feel, sweet fruits, heat, sherry with oak and a little bit of Sulfur.

Finish: Medium length with the sweet plums that fades into charred oak and a bit of Sulfur.

Sweet, a little hot, a little Sulfur.

Rating: 6/10

1 | Disgusting | So bad I poured it out.

2 | Poor | I wouldn’t consume by choice.

3 | Bad | Multiple flaws.

4 | Sub-par | Not bad, but better exists.

5 | Good | Good, just fine.

6 | Very Good | A cut above.

7 | Great | Well above average

8 | Excellent | Really quite exceptional.

9 | Incredible | An all time favorite
